The Fuel System
A great deal has changed within the fuel system over the last twenty years or so. As late as the 1980s the majority of vehicles sold in the US relied on carburetors. A scant 10 years later and nearly every vehicle sold contained a fuel injection system.

Fuel injection technology continues to evolve and deliver better performance and higher fuel efficiency. While performance gains tend to make automobile owners happier, the increasing reliance on technology to deliver those gains has meant automobile systems have become increasingly more complicated. As a result, few drivers have the tools or technical expertise to make even simple adjustments to their engines.

In this section we'll take a look at how fuel gets from the gas tank to the engine and see what happens in between. We'll also take a look at some of the important changes that have occurred in fuel system design through the years. In addition we'll show you specific steps you can take today that will immediately increase your automobile's fuel efficiency. Did you know that something as simple as getting a tune-up could actually save you hundreds of dollars or more over the life of your vehicle? We'll explain how and much more. Life is always better in 3D! 3DAuto!
