Computers and Sensors:

Computer Chips And The Driveway Mechanic
Automobiles have become incredibly complex machines. Not that long ago it was not uncommon to see vehicle owners tinkering under the hood of their cars over the weekend. However, as vehicles have become increasingly dependent upon electronic components, fewer and fewer people have the know how or all the tools needed to make even minor adjustments.

At the heart of modern vehicles is an integrated computer system that collects, processes and acts on the information it receives. Like any computer, your car’s

computer is actually a combination of smaller computing parts that all talk to one another and transfer data back and forth. For your car’s computer to make the right decisions, it needs data that is correct and timely. Collecting the data is the job of the sensors.

Sensors
Recently manufactured vehicles have dozens of sensors located throughout the automobile and the number is likely to only increase. Sensors monitor everything from how much oxygen is in your exhaust to the oil level in your engine or how fast your wheels are turning.
