Computers and Sensors:
Onboard Computers and Sensors
Over the years, automotive engineers have sought to create better and more efficient vehicles. More efficient cars mean better fuel economy, less pollution and greater reliability. To get the job done, auto manufacturers have turned increasingly to computers to not only manage how the vehicle runs, but also to provide more information to mechanics when they don’t work so well.
In this section we’ll take a look at how computers receive information about vehicle performance and see how the computer acts on the information it receives. We’ll also see what can go wrong when computers get the wrong information.
