The Auto Body:

Major Body Parts

Bumper

Traditionally bumpers were made of steel or aluminum and simply bolted to the frame. The sturdy design was designed primarily to protect the automobile from damage, with less emphasis on protecting passengers. But in the early 1970s bumper technology began to evolve to include new designs and materials with an increased focus on providing more protection for passengers. Modern bumpers are made of impact-absorbing hard plastic.
