The Defroster

Defrosters have become standard issue on most cars. It not only provides convenient way to melt ice on frosty mornings, but it acts as an important safety feature as well. Clear visibility is critical when driving, particularly during inclement weather conditions. Defroster construction is very simple and straight forward. A series of thin metal wires form a rectangular grid pattern across the rear of the window. As electricity passes through the wires they heat up, warming the glass and causing the ice to melt and keep the window defrosted.
