Amplifier

Amplifiers act like a power booster, allowing the radio to increase its volume without diminishing the quality of the sound. Some radios feature internal amplifiers others are external components that are frequently located under the dash or in the trunk. In either
case, they all work to increase the amount of electricity reaching the speaker. It is important that speakers be able to handle the increased output delivered by amplifiers, otherwise the speaker diaphragm can become permanently damaged or blown.

Cassette or CD

Cassettes and CDs are commonly featured as standard equipment on radios. They both offer the same base functionality of playing recorded music, the only real difference is the medium. Compact discs offer the superior sound of digital recording whereas cassettes rely on a magnetic tape to deliver an analog signal.
